Dhadpe Pohe

“Dhadpe Pohe” – A special Maharashtrian recipe made of Poha (flattened rice), fresh coconut, green chillies and ginger. A mouth-melting recipe for breakfast or snacks time!

 

 

  • Poha (Avalakki/Flattened Rice Flakes) – 2 cups
  • Fresh coconut (grated) – 1 cup
  • Green chillies – 4
  • Ginger – 2 pieces
  • Coriander – ¼ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – ½ cup
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Urad dal – ¼ tsp
  • Jeera seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Milk – 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 6
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Hing – a hint!

  • Take a blender – add ginger, green chillies & coriander. Grind it nicely. Do not add water
  • For seasoning, heat the oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal & roast till they turn brown. Add jeera & curry leaves. Lastly add hing & turmeric powder to it. Allow it to cool down
  • In a big vessel, take poha, add freshly grated coconut & green chilly – ginger – coriander mix. Mix these ingredients well with hand
  • Add seasoning to it & mix it very well
  • Sprinkle milk at the last & mix the poha again to make them little soft
  • Dhape Pohe are ready to be served
