Shavige Bhath(Vermicelli)- Simple South Indian breakfast recipe on a gloomy Saturday morning! Just loved this nicely cooked shavige with chana dal, urad dal, mustard, jeera, Hong, groundnut n jeera seasoning with a hint of curry leaves. Simple and Soothing morning bite!
Ingredients:
Roasted rice vermicelli – 4 cups
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Jeera – ½ tsp
Hing – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves – 5
Onion – 1 cup
Green peas (boiled) – ½ cup
Green chillies (chopped) – 1 tsp
Coriander (chopped) – 2 tsp
Peanuts – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil – 6 tsp
Water – 1 bottle
Lemon juice – 2 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Method of Preparation:
Heat 1 big vessel of water, bring it to boil. Add 1 tsp of oil to the boiling water
Add vermicelli to it, stir it once. Cook it 2 -3 mins & remove it from the flame
Drain excess water & pour cold water on the cooked vermicelli. Add drain excess water & keep it aside
Now take a big kadhai, heat oil. Add peanuts, urad dal, chana dal & mustard seeds. Roast them till they turn brown & aromatic
Add jeera now, curry leaves, hing. Turmeric powder can be added optionally
Add green chillies, onion, saute it nicely. You can add grated ginger optionally
Add boiled green peas & give it a good mix
Add salt, sugar & lemon juice. Lastly add cooked & drained vermicelli. Give it a gentle stir
